Merry, merry Christmas everyone!

last minute greetings

If you're anything like us, you might have gotten wrapped up the day to day hustle and bustle of life and let holiday merriment go to the wayside. With ecards as cute as these (compliments of the fine people at BARk!) you really have no excuse but to stay on your loved ones' good sides. Dog themed and animated, people! Show your canine obsession for what it is! And why not throw in a gift subscription ($10 for the holidays!) while you're at it? For us! Or, even better I guess, the dog lovers in your lives.

peppermint bark

Just a few shopping days left to order Christmas flair from our friends at Bark Slope. Our personal pick is the Peppermint Stick collar/leash (at least we think it's both). Other favorites are the Santa Paws Holiday Spa Pack (complete with a mist!), and the somewhat ridiculous Christmas Dog Party Collar which I'm sure one could convert to all manner of scrunchie or armband should the spirit move...

an update about the eCrate...

I've been getting some inquiries regarding this post about the glorious and gorgeous eCrate. I am admittedly unsure whether or not it ever officially launched at NYC Pet. What I can tell you (per designGO!) is that it's now available - online, no less! - at Sexy Beast for a cool $508 smackers. I mean, that's pretty much just change you find between the couch cushions, right? Gordy better hope not only for Santa's existence but that he turned a blind eye to the time he decided to take a dump under the grandma's Christmas tree. Regardless, I am obsessed... It's not often in the humble pet owner's life that such beautiful, dog oriented design comes along! Maybe this is our year!

santa claus is comin' to town... AGAIN!

Well just when I thought it couldn't get any better around here, beloved District Dog is ALSO decking the proverbial halls this weekend!

The details:

merry christmas jax & bones!

Of course Jax & Bones would make me the Christmas rope toys of my dreams! I think some of you will remember Gordy's love affair with Gerry. I am simultaenously pleased and horrified to report that this romance lives on in spite of loss of head, appendages, tail, etc. Which is maybe why a gift of either George the Gingerbread Man or Candi the Cane will be just the thing come Christmas morn.

santa claus is comin' to town!

A few readers have emailed us wanting to know where the heck to get a Santa photo taken in this town. Until just over twenty four hours ago I had no idea but, wouldn't you know, Joan and Lisa at PS 9 had a little something cooking all along!

Here are the details:

PS 9
169 N. 9TH STREET
(between Bedford and Driggs)

SATURDAY DECEMBER 15TH
12pm - 6pm

As if their glorious Christmas tree weren't enough, they will have a professional photographer (believe me, she's good!) and a decked out Santa prime to pose with your pooch from noon on (on-site printing, of course). I pretty much can't wait.

deck the dog in ella dish!

Leave it to Ella Dish to put us in a festive mood! Lucky us, someone was kind enough to treat Gordy with Limited Edition Jolly Holiday harness and leashes (yes, they have collars too!) and it immediately put a little Christmas pep in our step in spite of recent frigid temperatures and 50 mile and hour plus winds. This spin off of their best selling Jolly Rover is precious and weird in our humble opinion and our only lament is that we can't sport it all year long.

'tis the season

December is upon us and with that comes the inevitable plethora of holiday themed dog nonsense - on which we are seemingly all too happy to jump on board. Featured here are retro Santas with AZO-free faux fur backing from Harry Barker.

Stay tuned for ongoing gift ideas and recommendations. If you happen upon anything awesome (or better yet, environmentally friendly or a gift that gives back), please feel free to pass the info along!

Happy Holidays!
