What recession?

I can't take it!

To add to my ongoing list of ridiculously luxurious holiday wishes, NY-based designer Phillip Lim has recently introduced a line of glorious cashmere dog sweaters, shown here on model Oliver. Weep!

The sweaters come in gray, navy stripe, and bubblegum for a cool $150. To make matters worse, there's a so-called "gift set" which includes the sweater plus a red leather collar and leash for $375. All of the above available exclusively at the 3.1 Philip Lim boutiques in New York and Los Angeles.

And by the way... do not think I failed to notice the embroidered initials PL which stand not only for Phillip Lim but (hello!)... PETEY LACHANCE.

Why do the forces of the universe continue to align with a sole purpose of torturing me?

Porta-puppy

I have to say, the Portable Pet Food Tote is something I have been sorely missing in my life. Gone will be the pathetic days of baggies and bottles and cups. Happy and handy will be every trip to the park, ride in the car, summer excursion, etc.! It's the little things, you know?

Dirty Little Dog: Fantasia collection

Dirty Little Dog has a new collection coming out!

Behold... Fantasia!

In their words:

"Fantasia" refers to the imaginary world that is inspired by our childhood, one of the most nostalgic and often memorable times of our lives. This collection, both unique and personal, is filled with the innocence and souvenirs of childhood.

This is about as wild as it gets.... And we absolutely love it! Stay tuned for its arrival on their website.

Alice Wang: Pet Plus

Uh... I think this deserves an O.M.G.

Basically it's products like this that remind me why I have a dog related blog. Because if I didn't, I wouldn't spend such a shameful amount of time looking for dog related things, and man oh man, I would have never found this little gem.

Some background, if you please:

Pet Plus is a project aiming to explore how people treat their pets as human surrogates. Perhaps in the future, social supplements can be bought just like vitamns and other health products. Pet Plus offers various packages acting as social supplements encouraging further interaction between humans and their dogs. Pet Plus invites you to embark on a brand new social adventure!

The above photo is a leash which you hold as if you are holding someone's hand (instructions included). There's also dishwasher safe plates, matching glasses, a snappy bib, and a pillow for two. Wow.

Oh Alice Wang! How clever, how strange. Does anyone else feel a little self conscious looking at this?

Master of Puppies

Okay, we couldn't resist.

One, we are suckers for dog sweatshirts (the french bulldog's neck being naturally unflattered by the all too common doggie turtleneck) and two, more than one member of this household has a past checkered by heavy metal. So wouldn't you know, Benjamin Weinman (creative force behind Dillinger Escape Plan, dontcha know) has decided to venture into the dog apparel business and so was spawned... GARMUTT!

Choices include Black Labbath, Def Shepherd, Petallica et al (available as tees or sweatshirts), all handsomely inspired and modeled by Weinman's pug Blix.

You know you kind of love this.

Thrice is Nice: Pillow Pillow Pillow

Just try to resist getting killed by the cuteness that is Pillow Pillow Pillow. We had the pleasure of stumbling upon this lovely company a couple summers ago at the Renegade Craft Fair and have been big fans ever since. In the meantime, creator Aaron Stewart and his team (both canine and otherwise) have continued on offering series after series of polyfil-stuffed adorableness and expanded to include totes (!) and Blick wall graphics. Do not even get me started on the additions of families (or litters) complete with individually expressive puppies!

If that weren't enough - and this is maybe my very FAVORITE part of the site - you better believe you can submit your four legged friend(s) for their ongoing casting call to be inspiration for future projects and/or for the simple pleasure of basking in other people's funny pet photos.

Pillow Pillow Pillow products can be purchased from various stores around the world but hooray, they have also added an online shop!

And so there's a starter package...

Uh, what can I say? I've got puppies on the brain. And so I just so happened to stumble back on the (new, improved, and super slick) website for the eiCrate. These people are so smart... not only do they have what is easily the most attractive and best designed crate on the face of the planet, they're also conveniently offering a starter package which includes a crate, liner, half ouef bed, and form fitting cover. Plus, the prices are a bit lower these days and you can now buy directly from the site's store.

Now, I know we have a plain ol' rectangular crate left over from our previous puppy adventures but if anyone just so happens to find one of these, I don't know, on the side of the road or something.. and feels like donating one to me I guess I could make room for it. Okay thanks!!

Let's try this again

We are going to begin this post by doing something very unusual: sparing you the details.  There are friends and readers both in the neighborhood and online who might have a few clues as to why this blog has been on a bit of a hiatus... and for those unaware we are taking a stance (for the moment ) of ignorance being bliss. With that said, we've been missing this self indulgent little chronicle all the while and we're going to try to make an effort, however feeble, to keep it going. Thank you, as always, for continuing to check up on us even though we've been much too silent.

And so, in the not so distant future, we hope to bring you a heaping dose of the following: holiday discounts, products a plenty, and... though we can't quite believe it ourselves .... what's looking like the arrival of a little furry friend named Petey in approximately 2 weeks time.

Happiest of happy holidays everyone and thanks again for being around.
